Welcome to Tuesday,
Still trying to figure out how each week we wait an eternity for the weekend to come, then when Friday’s off time finally arrives somehow time takes a hit of steroids, hits hyper-speed and then all of a sudden, we are back to Monday again..
So last week the light bulb illuminated and we were able to begin to sharing outlooks with about this whole “9-5” lifestyle which seems to be a common conflict among us millennials. Well I am not going to spend this entire time continuously disagreeing…We all have our differences of opinion the workforce policies. But I will say this, the “9-5” concept was developed in the early 1900s during the Industrial Revolution (https://newintrigue.com/2015/01/23/on-the-future-of-pointless-jobs-the-9-5-work-day-and-the-robot-revolution/) and modeled for the manufacturing industry at the time and seemed like a great idea. Look it up!
Therefore, it is mind boggling to me how/why we still follow this model 100yrs later when we have remote work capabilities, VPNs, and this little thing called THE INTERNET! So why is it that we are still required to sit in an office or cube from day to day? I don’t get it.
I almost guarantee half the battle that some companies face with work efficiency from their employees is largely due to people having to actually be present at the office. To be honest, most people spend half of their work day watching movies/shows on their phones, constantly checking social media, starting time-filler conversations or looking at the clock trying to figure out how close it is to 5pm… at least once an hour you’re asking yourself and others “is it 5 o’clock yet?”
PSA!!! (public service announcement) If you’re reading this you have breath in your body meaning you have the opportunity get out, start a new project, learn a new skill, see new places and things. I know what you’re thinking “I don’t have time, I don’t have money, I don’t know how” Remember at one point this skill that you are doing NOW(reading) you didn’t know how to do but you figured it out. Excuses are monuments of nothingness… Make time, Learn How, and Make Money as a result/reward for initiating the aforementioned two steps. “One should always be a student of life” (Morgan Freeman voice). TEACH YOURSELF (can’t emphasize this enough) skills and abilities. When is the last time you told yourself you were going to learn something new? Or When is the last time you told yourself you are better than what you are currently getting paid to do? Or maybe you are comfortable with your current job putting THEIR price tag on you?
Exhibit A (for me): This Blog you’re reading. I did not want to spend a ton of time asking the experts and trying figure out all the logistics, I just wanted to write and converse with people. Besides I know that most things I am going through are similar/identical with you since you’re reading this. I am no pro but I am making Time to Learn.
In the meantime, I hope everyone’s weekend was thoroughly enjoyed and that something I am saying here is sparking a fire in you to begin the new route for your life because it truly is possible to start making a difference in how things will go. If nothing else think of this….. A guy is now world know for throwing salt on food.
[-_-] We all put salt on our food.
Thank you humbly for your time and conversation. Be Blessed. Be Ambitious.
